A Sydney football referee has suffered a broken jaw in a violent brawl captured on camera, with NSW Police now investigating. 7NEWS
The alleged incident occurred during the Greenacre Eagles’ clash with the Padstow Hornets on Friday night.Footage uploaded to social media showed a spectator yelling from behind a fence when the referee was allegedly attacked by a different man.The official was allegedly punched and kicked before several people attempted to clear the scuffle.
“The committee at Greenacre Eagles FC reaffirm our position that all forms of violence have no place in our game and will continue to deal with such instances with the utmost seriousness,” the club said. NSW Sports Minister Steve Kamper, a former president of Sydney Olympic Football Club, said the alleged attack was “absolutely unacceptable”.
