Man accused of weapons charges in slaying of CPD officer Ella French pleads guilty.
A man charged in the 2021 slaying of Chicago police officer Ella French pleaded guilty to three felonies Thursday morning in exchange for a 7-year prison sentence during a hearing packed with police officers and French’s family. Eric Morgan, 25, was charged with 11 felonies, including gun charges and a count of obstruction of justice, but he was not charged with murder or accused of firing the shots that killed French and injured her partner.
“She was so proud of her success and so was I,” French said, growing tearful.
