Mamelodi Sundowns are moving quickly to finalise the contract renewal of one of their midfield stars, despite not being a regular.
“These days, since the Sporting Director took over, contracts are discussed well in advance so that they are not caught off guard. That’s why they are discussing these contracts at least a year before. So, as for Sipho , his contract is only coming to end next year in June but they have already offered him a new three-year contract which is expected to run until June 2028. It’s a good one and things are looking positive right now,” said one source to the publication.
A second source maintained that it is only a matter of time before Sundowns and Mbule finalise the new deal. “They don’t want to lose their players. Mainly the main ones, as they look at all the competitions they are to be playing in. They will play in all the tournaments at home. Four of them and two in Africa then the Club World Cup. So it’s not just for the year but even going forward and that’s why they are offering most of their regular players contract extensions.
Mbule only played 16 games of Sundowns’ busy schedule which included a total 57 season matches. But the club seem determined to keep him into his prime years.
