Police officers in Malvern were justified in fatally shooting a woman who pointed a gun at them during a confrontation at her home, the Chester County District Attorney’s office said Thursday.
Ryan did not release the name of the woman, who was killed by police who went to her home to check on her welfare. A spokesperson for Ryan’s office said the woman’s name would not be released by prosecutors at the request of her family. When the officers arrived at the home, the woman confronted them while holding a Glock19 9mm handgun in one hand and a cellphone in the other, according to Ryan. She told the officers she was in a “crisis situation,” and told them the incident was being recorded and streamed live on the Internet.
