MANJUNG: The just-ended Malindo Jaya joint exercise involving the Royal Malaysian Navy and the Indonesian Navy has helped to further improve cooperation between the two forces.

The Navy said in a statement on Monday said that the exercise, from Aug 29 to Sept 4, also gave officers and personnel of KD Lekiu and KD Seri Indera Sakti vessels an opportunity to exchange views with personnel of KRI Eddy Martadinata and KRI Tombak.

"The Malindo Jaya series 26AB/22 exercise was conducted at 2nd Fleet Command Base in Surabaya, Indonesia and the waters of the Java Sea covering Command Post Exercise as well as Subject Matter Expert Exchange KOPASKA-PASKAL. "The sea exercise includes various aspects in honing skills on conventional warfare training and also maritime security," according to the statement.

Apart from strengthening relations between both nations, the joint exercise was also aimed at, among others, increasing military readiness to face any future enemy threats, it added. - Bernama
