PETALING JAYA: Wisma Putra has confirmed that a number of Malaysian tourists were involved in a fatal car crash north of Kaikoura, New Zealand.

, the accident occurred when a truck and a vehicle collided at the State Highway 1 around 3.15pm on Friday .

It reported that the accident had claimed the lives of three victims and two others were in critical condition.The report noted that the two critically-injured persons, believed to be teenagers, were flown via rescue helicopter to Wellington Hospital and Christchurch Hospital. The New Zealand police media centre, in a statement on Dec 6 said that the circumstances of the crash were still being investigated.
