Mohd Faiq Masawi, an 18-year-old Malaysian badminton player, is aiming to improve his singles performance in 2024 after transitioning from men's doubles.
Young Malaysian shuttler Mohd Faiq Masawi aims to enhance his performance in men's singles next year after facing challenges in the category this year. The 18-year-old has shifted his focus to singles after his men's doubles partnership with Lok Hong Quan concluded last month. Faiq and Hong Quan previously secured second place in the Vietnam International Series. Faiq's best singles result this year was reaching the quarter-finals at the World Junior Championships in October.
He is currently ranked No. 355 in the world, trailing other seniors on the Malaysian team. Faiq is training under singles coaches K. Yogendran and Alvin Chew, aiming to bridge the gap with higher-ranked players. He is also excited to meet new head coach Kenneth Jonassen, who will join the team in January.
