PETALING JAYA: The 36-year-old woman, who was kidnapped in Tumpat, Kelantan, has been rescued.

Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani, in a statement Thursday , said the victim was rescued with the assistance of Thai police."Through our investigation, close partnership with the Royal Thai Police, information sharing and surveillance, the victim has been located in Thailand. She was saved by the local authorities there and returned to Malaysia today.

"Seven local men were arrested in Kelantan, Selangor and Kuala Lumpur to assist investigations under Section 3 of the Kidnapping Act 1961. The vehicle used during the abduction has also been seized," he said.ALSO READ:The victim, a cosmetic sales agent, was reportedly abducted on Sept 13 by four men in a Toyota Vios.

Previously, acting Kelantan police chief Datuk Muhamad Zaki Harun said the investigation found that the victim's husband was suspected of having a disagreement with a member of the same drug trafficking syndicate to which he belonged. He said based on their investigation, the victim was aware of her husband's involvement in the drug trafficking syndicate.
