The Malaysian Ministry of Transport (MOT) acknowledges the existence of syndicates attempting to circumvent law enforcement, particularly on roads. Minister Anthony Loke states that investigations and preliminary intelligence gathering will be conducted to obtain solid evidence before being handed over to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (SPRM). Loke acknowledges that such issues pose a significant challenge in enforcing road traffic regulations, especially concerning heavy vehicles. To combat this, the MOT is introducing cutting-edge technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), to enhance enforcement effectiveness. A new system called High Speed – Weigh in Motion (HS-WIM) will facilitate enforcement against overloaded heavy vehicles by enabling on-site weight detection, eliminating the need to transport vehicles to weighing stations.

This approach aims to address the challenge of funding airport expansions based on political influence and ensure a more sustainable and strategic approach to regional development.
