A Malaysian teenager and TikToker faces charges for posting offensive content against the King, Regent of Johor, and Prime Minister.

A Malaysian teenager and TikToker named Rayyan Wong has been arrested for investigation related to content deemed offensive towards the Yang di-Pertuan Agong (King), the Regent of Johor, and the Prime Minister, which was uploaded to his TikTok account. According to a Sinar Harian report, Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain stated that the investigation was initiated following a report filed by the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) regarding the content.

The investigation led to the arrest of the suspect, who uploaded the video at 4:30 PM. Police also seized a smartphone believed to belong to the suspect. Rayyan had previously uploaded a video claiming that a Chinese restaurant eaten by the King, Prime Minister, and Tunku Mahkota Ismail was not certified halal. The content was deemed offensive and intended to cause hurt, ridicule, and insult to the royal institution. Tan Sri Razarudin further stated that it also incited hatred and provocation against the Royal Institution, potentially jeopardizing public safety and national harmony. The case is currently being investigated under Section 4(1) of the Sedition Act 1948 and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998. Rayyan has since issued an apology after the case went viral on social media.
