Tan Sri Lee Lam Thye, chairman of the Alliance for a Safe Community, has expressed his full support for Bukit Aman's initiative to review outdated laws in Malaysia. He believes the call made by Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department (CID) director Comm Datuk Seri Mohd Shuhaily Mohd Zain to examine laws such as the Common Gaming Houses Act, the Prevention of Crime Act, and the Security Offences Act is timely.
Lee emphasizes the need to update these laws to reflect contemporary challenges and ensure they remain effective in combating crime. He further suggests enhancing the Computer Crimes Act 1997 to address emerging forms of cybercrime, including ransomware attacks, phishing scams, and identity theft.
