Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad, the Health Minister of Malaysia, was visibly emotional and shed tears during the Budget 2025 debate at the committee level on Tuesday, November 16. He was particularly affected by stories of inadequate healthcare access shared by several MPs.

During the Budget 2025 debate at the committee level on Tuesday (Nov 16), Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad visibly became emotional and shed tears while delivering his ministry’s concluding speech. He recounted the experiences shared by several Members of Parliament (MPs), including Riduan Rubin (IND-Tenom) and Young Syefura Othma (Betong MP), who highlighted the lack of accessible healthcare for residents in their areas.

Dr Dzulkefly's emotional breakdown was also triggered by Dr Richard Rapu (GPS-Betong), who stated that there was a lack of dialysis centers in his area, and one family had to travel 200km weekly for dialysis. The Minister was overwhelmed by these stories and had to take a short break to regain composure. A total of 21 MPs participated in the debate, sharing their concerns about healthcare issues
