The Malaysian government has allocated RM16.81 million for upgrades to its rail network, focusing on automatic platform gates (APG) and lift and escalator repair and maintenance. The APG project, delayed due to technical issues, is now progressing well, with most stations expected to have APGs by the end of the year.

The APG project, which faced delays initially due to technical issues and signal malfunctions, is now progressing well. APG s are now operational at KL Sentral and Tun Sambanthan stations, with the completion of the remaining stations expected by the end of the year.
Additionally, repairs to all stations’ lifts and escalators are expected to be completed by April 2025, addressing complaints from the disabled community regarding accessibility challenges
