KATHMANDU (Reuters): A rescue helicopter plucked a Malaysian climber from Mount Annapurna in west Nepal on Friday (April 26), where he was stranded for two days after climbing the world's 10th highest mountain this week, officials said.

Wui Kin Chin, 48, an anesthesiologist, reached the top of the 8,091m mountain along with 31 other international climbers on Tuesday but then failed to descend to a lower camp.Four sherpa rescuers climbed to the site and brought him down to a lower camp from where he was picked up by a longline rescue helicopter.
"He is conscious but critical," Mingma, who goes by his first name, told Reuters without giving details of how the climber survived on the mountain for two nights before the rescuers reached him.
