Economic analysts predict Malaysia's capital markets will be among the best performing in Southeast Asia in 2024, driven by strong economic growth, a stable political environment, and attractive investment opportunities.

Malaysian capital markets are projected to be among the top performing in Southeast Asia throughout 2024, according to economic analysts. As of October 2024, the total value of Malaysia's bond and sukuk market stands at RM2.09 trillion, while the market capitalization of securities listed on Bursa Malaysia has reached RM2 trillion, surpassing the RM2 trillion mark for the first time in May. Prof Madya Dr.

Aimi Zulhazmi Abdul Rashid, an Economic Analyst at UniKL Business School, stated that Malaysia's capital market performance aligns with that of developing and emerging economies. He attributed this to the country's open market, transparent information, strong performance of listed public companies, and stable government financial ratings, making government-issued bonds and sukuk attractive to foreign investors. This, in turn, has strengthened the value of the Malaysian ringgit and increased Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM)'s international reserves compared to the previous year. Aimi Zulhazmi highlighted that the country's impressive economic performance, reflected in its Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth, also attracts both domestic and foreign investors. He pointed to the government's upward revision of the 2024 GDP projection from 4.5% to 5.0% to 4.8% to 5.3%, following encouraging GDP growth for the first three quarters of the year. He further noted the continued strong performance of Malaysian companies across various sectors, particularly finance, construction, and plantation, surpassing pre-2020 levels. Aimi Zulhazmi expressed confidence that the government's efforts to attract foreign investment will contribute to significant economic growth in 2025
