The Malaysian Ministry of Communications will monitor social media platforms' implementation of age restrictions. Minister Fahmi Fadzil stated that additional measures will be taken if platforms fail to enforce their own age limits, following the implementation of social media licensing on January 1st. While Malaysia won't directly ban children under 16 from social media like Australia, the ministry will ensure platforms effectively implement their existing age restrictions to prevent criminal activity and maintain policy stability.
