Since June of this year, bus travelers and motorcyclists have been using different apps at the Sultan Abu Bakar Customs, Immigration and Quarantine (CIQ) complex (KSAB) at the Second Link. Bus passengers used the MyTrip app, while motorcyclists utilized MyBorderPass, which incorporates QR code and facial recognition technology.

It is anticipated that MyTrip will be gradually phased out at KSAB, with plans to fully implement MyBorderPass in the coming days. \At the Bangunan Sultan Iskandar CIQ in Johor Baru (BSI), bus passengers have been using the MyRentas app, while motorcyclists have favored MyBorderPass. The two bus lanes at BSI have been integrated with MyBorderPass, and the home ministry asserts that all six motorcycle lanes – three entering and three exiting – at BSI are currently utilizing MyBorderPass. \State works, transportation, infrastructure and communications committee chairman Mohamad Fazli Mohamad Salleh expressed his support for the transition to a single app, emphasizing its convenience and clarity for travelers. He noted the effectiveness of the facial recognition system implemented at the motorcycle lanes in BSI and expressed hope that this technology would facilitate smooth immigration clearance for bus passengers. However, he reassured that passengers facing difficulties could utilize their QR code or approach the manual counter for assistance. Regarding the QR code system for cars and lorries, Mohamad Fazli stated that it remains in the proof-of-concept stage due to the complexity of processing multiple passengers within a single vehicle. He highlighted the need to ensure the system accurately captures details of all passengers, including both Malaysians and foreigners. The state government ultimately aims to extend QR code and facial recognition facilities to encompass all foreign travelers, mirroring the functionality of autogates
