Anwar was responding to a question about the approaches taken by each country and whether there will be any spillover effect on Malaysia-Singapore bilateral ties caused by the reactions and sentiments in both countries regarding the current situation in the Middle East. “Of course, the sentiment in Malaysia is very strong,“ he said adding that he has been in touch with many Arab leaders to express Malaysia’s position and support for a peaceful and immediate resolution to the conflict.
Meanwhile, Lee said he does not think that the conflict should affect Singapore-Malaysia bilateral relations, noting that Singapore has made repeated statements about this conflict and condemned what’s happening in the Middle East.
