Malaysia’s silat gets Unesco heritage status

The recognition was given at the 14th Session of the Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of Intangible Cultural Heritage currently held in Bogota, Colombia, from December 9 to 14. “It is a world-class recognition for silat to be enlisted by Unesco as it is one of the country’s most enduring cultural heritage treasures.He said the nomination of silat and related documents were submitted to Unesco headquarters based in Paris on March 30 last year and received good cooperation and assistance from various federal government and state agencies.
