KUALA LUMPUR, June 4 — Malaysians will be able to apply for a new Malaysian passport with a 10-year validity by paying RM350, based on a new government order.
In the new government order Order 2026) which was gazetted and came into effect yesterday, Malaysians will have to pay RM350 when applying for the 10-year passport. That is unless you are aged 60 and above ; are aged above 18 and a registered persons with disabilities holding a Kad OKU ; or an officer or staff of the Immigration Department of Malaysia .
Based on the same order, you will have to pay a range of between RM200 to RM1,350 to replace your Malaysian passport . The passport replacement fee you have to pay depends on which category you fall under, and how many times you have already replaced it.
For example, if you are aged 13 to 59, you will have to pay replacement fees of RM550 , RM850 , RM1,350 . The same government order also revised the list of passport replacement fees for those with a Malaysian passport valid for five years, by specifying fees for Hajj pilgrims as a separate category, and also no longer giving free replacement for Kad OKU holders.
Based on the Immigration Department’s website, currently there are also fines for those who are replacing their passport for the first time , second time , third or subsequent lost or damaged passport . But for those aged 60 and above, or those with a Kad OKU, they will not have to pay fines when replacing their passports, based on the website.
At the time of writing, there has been no announcement yet on when Malaysians will be able to apply for passports with the new 10-year validity period.
