The construction of the littoral combat ship (LCS) for the Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN) has reached a significant milestone with the completion of surface cleaning using blasting techniques and the application of the first coat of paint. Lumut Naval Shipyard (LUNAS), the contractor responsible for the project, stated that the ship will undergo surface preparation and coating application to ensure all critical areas meet the required standards.
PETALING JAYA: Proses pembinaan kapal tempur pesisir Tentera Laut Diraja Malaysia kini selesai menjalani proses pembersihan permukaan kapal menggunakan teknik letupan dan pengecatan tahap pertama.
“Prosedur penting ini memastikan permukaan kapal bersedia ketika kami bergerak secara progresif ke peringkat seterusnya, yang mana lapisan tambahan salutan akan digunakan dengan teliti untuk meningkatkan daya ketahanan dalam keadaan maritim yang mencabar. LUNAS dalam masa yang sama turut memberi penghargaan kepada tenaga pakar yang bekerja keras bagi menyiapkan projek berkenaan.Dalam kenyataan itu juga, LUNAS berkata, proses blasting dan mengecat ialah prosedur kritikal dalam industri seperti pembinaan kapal yang membabitkan proses teliti .
“Proses itu membabitkan pembersihan permukaan melalui letupan kasar untuk menghilangkan karat, salutan lama dan bahan cemar, diikuti salutan pelindung dalam lapisan, termasuk primer, perantaraan dan lapisan atas untuk memastikan ketahanan, rintangan kakisan serta kemasan yang dipertingkatkan.
