Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim revealed today that the RM16 billion contract for over two dozen Leonardo helicopters was secured with a government-to-government negotiation and an implicit guarantee from the Italian government, which owns 30 percent of Leonardo SpA.

The Prime Minister of Malaysia , Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim , addressed Parliament today regarding a RM16 billion contract to lease over two dozen Leonardo helicopters for 15 years. Anwar explained that the contract was awarded following a government-to-government negotiation and was secured with a tacit guarantee from the Italian government, which holds a 30 percent stake in Leonardo SpA.

During the G20 conference in Brazil, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni assured that the Italian government would provide full cooperation and that Leonardo would offer the best possible service
