Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim stressed the need for a specific national security act to counter external threats and violent influence. He emphasized the importance of this act in ensuring domestic safety from both internal and international sources. While affirming that Malaysia aims to be a mature democracy, Anwar stated the necessity for a strong legal framework to address emerging challenges.
PUTRAJAYA: Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim berpandangan terdapat keperluan untuk negara memiliki akta keselamatan negara yang khusus bagi memerangi unsur-unsur dan pengaruh keganasan dari luar negara.
“Saya pasti tentunya akan disergah tapi Insya-Allah kita akan pertahankan kerana kita mahu lebih matang sebagai satu demokrasi,” katanya ketika berucap pada Majlis Peluncuran Pelan Tindakan Bagi Mencegah dan Menangani Fahaman Pelampau Keganasan , di sini hari ini. Katanya, ia sebahagian usaha Malaysia sebagai sebuah negara kecil dalam menjalin hubungan antarabangsa dengan semua pihak.“Bagaimanapun, ia tidak melepaskan kita daripada tanggungjawab menyokong apa yang kita anggap sebagai hak dan menolak kebatilan,” katanya.
