The Putrajaya Corporation together with the Malaysian Ministry of Transport is conducting a trial operation of the Automatic Transit Vehicle or trackless tram from 13 May to 31 July 2024. This pilot project aims to introduce ART as one of the modes of transport that complement the existing system network in Putrajaya. If successful, this tram service is expected to start at the end of this year.
In addition, the engineer, Muhammad Masrizal Saad stated that two routes were introduced in conjunction with this trial period. The first route operates from Monday to Friday starting from Putrajaya Sentral MRT Station through government administration destinations in Precincts 2, 3 and 4. The second route operates on weekends from Putrajaya Sentral MRT Station to IOI City Mall.
For your information, the ART uses technology by CRC, a Chinese subsidiary of the world's leading manufacturer of rail systems and components. The ART tram, which can accommodate up to 307 passengers during peak hours, does not charge a fee during the trial period. Passengers only need to use the QR code application provided at the station.
Moreover, a user, Zainol Awang, 69 came from Karak, Pahang to experience this and expressed his admiration for the country's progress. Another user, Alia Jamin, believes that ART can attract more tourists to Putrajaya and boost the local economy. More information about ART operations can be found on PPj's official website and social media. We have yet to confirm other details on the subject. So, we should wait for more confirmation from the MOT.What are your thoughts about this news? Stay tuned for more news and updates like this at TechNave!
