Malaysia has imposed provisional anti-dumping duties on polyethylene terephthalate (PET) imports from China and Indonesia to protect its domestic PET industry.
The Malaysia n government has imposed provisional anti-dumping duties on imports of polyethylene terephthalate ( PET ) from China and Indonesia . The duties, ranging from 6.33% to 37.44%, were implemented based on a preliminary determination of an anti-dumping duty investigation initiated in August 2024. The move aims to protect the domestic PET industry from alleged dumping practices by Chinese and Indonesia n producers.
Recron (M) Sdn Bhd, representing the domestic industry, filed the petition claiming that imports of PET from these countries were being sold below their domestic prices, causing harm to Malaysian producers. The provisional duties will be in effect for up to 120 days, starting from January 7, 2025. Interested parties can submit their comments and views to the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI) by January 17, 2025
