Malaysia, along with Brazil, India, and Thailand, is conducting clinical trials on the reuse of the drug Nelfinavir for the treatment of dengue patients. The drug has previously been used in vaccines against Hepatitis C and for the treatment of AIDS patients. The study is being conducted in collaboration with the Drugs for Neglected Diseases initiative (DNDi).
