Deputy Youth and Sports Minister Adam Adli Abd Halim believes esports will contribute significantly to Malaysia's medal count at the 2026 Asian Games. He highlights the efforts of national esports organizations and the government in training athletes for these upcoming Games.

Deputy Youth and Sports Minister Adam Adli Abd Halim expresses confidence that electronic sports (e-sports) will contribute to Malaysia 's medal haul at the upcoming 20th Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan. He emphasizes that the Malaysia Esports League (MEL), Esports Integrated (ESI), and the Malaysia n Esports Federation (MESF) are actively preparing for the Games by training athletes who are capable of competing at a high level.

Adli highlights that while some game titles might not be widely popular in Malaysia, MESF, supported by ESI, MEL, and the Youth and Sports Ministry (KBS), is dedicated to nurturing grassroots players with potential in these lesser-known games. \His optimism stems from the experience gained by previous national e-sports squads in similar tournaments and Malaysia's strong performance in several e-sports categories. The 2026 Asian Games will feature eleven e-sports events: Competitive Martial Arts (Team), Pokémon Unite, Honour of Kings, League of Legends, PUBG Mobile (Asian Games Version), Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, Identity V (Asian Games Version), Naraka: Bladepoint, Gran Turismo 7, eFootball Series, and Puyo Puyo Champions. These were announced by the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) in February following a unanimous decision by the OCA Executive Board to include e-sports in the 2026 Asian Games. \Adli, alongside MESF president Muhammad Naim Al-Amin, made these statements at the PUBG MOBILE Super League (PMSL) SEA Spring 2025 Final in Putrajaya. He stressed the importance of maximizing Malaysia's participation in e-sports, considering its competitive edge and the potential to secure more medals
