7NEWS: Traffic lights disrupted amid major power outage in Bundoora, Greensborough, Watsonia, Thomastown

northeast blacked out traffic lights at dozens of intersections and thousands of homes have also been affected.A total of 38 traffic lights at intersections in the area were blacked out, including at major roads.By 11am, most of the traffic lights were back on and four sets remain blacked out including on Plenty Rd, Grimshaw St, the Greensborough Bypass and M80 Ring Road.

Drivers have been urged to follow the same rules as if they were approaching an intersection with a ‘Stop’ or ‘Give Way’ sign. About 23,000 homes in the area lost power for around 30 minutes and 1800 people remain in a black out in Watsonia North, Bundoora and Greensborough. An AusNet spokesperson said they are continuing to investigate the cause of the outage and said a substation in Watsonia “tripped” just after 10am.
