Sarawak Report editor Clare Rewcastle-Brown describes the prime minister as a 'formidable old warhorse' who dazzled during a gruelling campaign in GE14.

PETALING JAYA: Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad has been listed among Time magazine’s 100 most influential people of 2019, following Pakatan Harapan’s victory in the 14th general election last year.

She also spoke of the Langkawi MP’s crusade against former prime minister Najib Razak over the 1MDB scandal.“Take Dr Mahathir Mohamad, the former Malaysian prime minister, who came out of retirement last year to lambast Najib Razak, who is accused of embezzling millions of dollars from the country’s 1MDB development fund.

Rewcastle-Brown, who first broke the scandal surrounding the embattled sovereign wealth fund, said Mahathir managed to bring people of different races together. Rewcastle-Brown said Mahathir is committed to handing over power to the former leader of the opposition, Anwar Ibrahim, 71, whom he released from jail days after his victory.
