The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) plans to prioritize combating corruption in key areas to strengthen the economy and reclaim illicit funds.
The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission ( MACC ) is planning to focus on eliminating corruption in procurement, enforcement, and grand corruption in 2025. This effort aims to bolster the country's economy, minimize leakages, and reclaim misappropriated national assets and funds.
MACC Chief Commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki announced that the organization will undergo a structural transformation, including enhancing the assignment approach and empowering the functions of each division for greater effectiveness. Azam emphasized the need for a shift in approach, culture, and mindset to prevent complacency. He highlighted the rebranding of the Inspection and Consultancy Division (Perun) to the Governance Investigation Division (BPT) to strengthen governance and ensure the implementation of investigation findings. Azam expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim for approving increased funding and 200 additional officers for MACC in Budget 2025. These additions will fortify the operational division, particularly in tackling money laundering and high-profile cases
