Two suspects, including a deputy director of a government agency, have been detained in Malaysia for allegedly soliciting and accepting bribes totalling approximately RM600,000. The suspects, both in their 40s, were arrested after being called in for questioning at the Negri Sembilan Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) office. Authorities allege the bribes were paid to obtain necessary approvals for companies' applications, with the funds being deposited into an account belonging to a consulting firm acting as a middleman.

The two, in their 40s, were detained at the Negri Sembilan MACC office on Monday after they were called in for questioning.A source said the bribes were to obtain certain necessary approvals for the companies' applications."The bribes were allegedly banked into the account of a consulting company that acted as the middleman," he said.The application was made by MACC prosecuting officer Mohamad Nazif Haikal Jalaludin before Magistrate Syed Farid Syed Ali.
