SHAH ALAM: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission is continuing its investigation into former prime minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob , with several new files opened based on the latest information and intelligence, says Tan Sri Azam Baki .
MACC chief commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki told Sinar Harian that Ismail Sabri's statement recording will continue either Tuesday or Wednesday , as there are still many issues to be addressed."This case investigation involves corruption, abuse of power, and money laundering. In addition to the original investigation related to the Keluarga Malaysia initiative, we have also opened several new files concerning his assets," he said.
He was speaking to Sinar Harian at the Adjunct Professor Appointment Ceremony at the Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Chancellor Hall, Universiti Teknologi MARA Shah Alam, on Monday .Earlier, Azam Baki was appointed as an Adjunct Professor in the Accounting Research Institute at UiTM, as part of efforts to strengthen research into financial crimes and governance integrity.Further commenting, Azam said Ismail Sabri had been instructed to declare his assets, which is a key aspect of the investigation.
Additionally, he stressed that the former prime minister must also provide explanations regarding corruption allegations and the funds previously highlighted."We are unsure if new issues will arise in the future, but the MACC assures that the investigation will continue even if new information emerges," he added.
Azam said MACC was committed to conducting investigations transparently and professionally to ensure every allegation is thoroughly investigated without any interference.
