PETALING JAYA: A Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia Youth (Armada) leader was arrested by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC)
However, it is not known how long the man, in his 20s, will be held."Yes, this person was arrested last night and was remanded this morning. We can't spare details yet," said a source.
Armada information chief Ulya Aqamah Husamudin who also confirmed the arrest, said Armada was aware that MACC had arrested a party leader late Tuesday night and claimed that the arrest was a form of pressure to silence its members. A split in Bersatu happened after its president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin took the party out of the Pakatan Harapan coalition that contributed to the downfall of the Pakatan government.
Bersatu Youth chief Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman, together with Bersatu chairman Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, vice-president Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir and two others have continued to call for the return of the party to Pakatan. The five also have had their membership in the party terminated after sitting on the opposition bench during the parliamentary session on May 18.
