The Malaysian Automotive Association (MAA) and Malaysia Automotive Robotics and IoT Institute (MARii) have signed a memorandum of understanding to collaborate on organizing automotive exhibitions and motor shows on an alternate-year basis from 2025 to 2028. This means MAA's flagship motor show, KLIMS, will run in alternate years with MARii's motor show, MAS.
, the carmaker’s club signed a memorandum of understanding with Malaysia Automotive Robotics and IoT Institute to collaborate on organising automotive exhibitions and motor shows on an alternate-year basis from 2025 to 2028.
What this means is that MAA’s flagship motor show – the Kuala Lumpur International Mobility Showcase – will run in alternate years with MARii’s motor show, the Malaysia Autoshow .
“This collaboration represents a transformative milestone for Malaysia’s automotive industry. By aligning the strengths of MARii and MAA, we are creating a unified, strategic approach to organising automotive exhibitions. The alternate year framework enables us to focus our resources and innovation, ensuring that both MAS and KLIMS become flagship events that highlight Malaysia’s leadership in automotive advancements, policy alignment, and sustainable growth,” said Azrul Reza Aziz, CEO of MARii.
“We are thrilled to join forces with MARii to create an even more dynamic experience for all stakeholders. This collaboration will not only assist the industry players by not burdening them to participate in two auto shows a year previously, but it also increases the scope and impact of our motor shows,” said MAA president Mohd Shamsor Mohd Zain.
Those who have been to both MAS and KLIMS, what’s your thoughts on this arrangement, and what do you like/dislike about the motor shows?Danny Tan loves driving as much as he loves a certain herbal meat soup, and sweet engine music as much as drum beats. He has been in the auto industry since 2006, previously filling the pages of two motoring magazines before joining this website. Enjoys detailing the experience more than the technical details.
