Less than a month into his tenure as Lyft CEO, David Risher emailed employees saying the San Francisco-based ride-hailing giant will 'significantly reduce' its staff.

The cut comes less than a month into Risher’s tenure — he told employees layoffs were “in the air” at his first all-hands meeting in late March and on Friday confirmed that Lyft would “significantly reduce” its workforce.
“We need to be a faster, flatter company where everyone is closer to our riders and drivers,” Risher told employees in the email. “… And we need to bring our costs down to deliver affordable rides, compelling earnings for drivers, and profitable growth.”
