A Sydney couple on board a cruise ship that had been stranded in Greenland said the vessel had been freed by a fishing boat called Tarajoq.
The luxury cruise ship that run aground in remote eastern Greenland has been freed by a research fishing vessel, according to Australian passengers on the vessel.The Ocean Explorer, which ran aground on Monday.A spokesperson for Denmark’s armed forces confirmed the ship had been freed.
“What they did this morning is they took our anchor out sideways, dragged it on the ground out sideways to use it as a focal point to twist the boat,” Fraser said. “We’re just floating around, I don’t think we’re going to be going anywhere fast. The guys just started the motor,” he said.“We need to get the ship inspected for safety, but we have to sail in the open ocean to do that,” Fraser said.
