At the launch of Lumut Maritime Industrial City , a strategic collaboration between Perbadanan Kemajuan Negeri Perak and Port of Antwerp-Bruges International , which marks the beginning of a RM72bil development proposal and masterplan to be realised over the next 25 years.
"The LuMIC initiative is in line with the aspirations of the Perak Sejahtera 2030 plan through Flagship 13: The Maritime Hub and Nusantara Port, aiming to make Perak a competitive, sustainable, and strategic investment destination in the region," he said in his speech at the official presentation of the LuMIC feasibility study here today.
Saarani said the project will be developed in phases, aligned with global trends such as the green, blue, and digital economies, and will comprise an international-standard port, eco-friendly industrial zones, and a sustainable smart city. "Supported by international partners such as PoABI, the EU, and local regulators, LuMIC is implemented based on the environmental, social, and governance principles, with the aim of not only attracting global investments and logistics players but also spurring growth among innovative small and medium enterprises and generating widespread economic spillover across the state," he said.
