THE Land Transportation Office (LTO) received on Tuesday the first batch of plastic license cards from the new supplier.
At least 5,000 pieces of plastic license cards were delivered by Banner Plasticard Inc. with 5.2 million more to be delivered within the year.The Department of Transportation had awarded Banner Plasticard Inc. the contract to supply the plastic cards with the LTO, which is currently facing a backlog of around 700,000 backlog plastic driver's license cards.Banner Plasticard, under the terms of reference of its contract with the LTO, is mandated to deliver one million to 1.
5 million cards every 60 days after the first delivery until the 5.2 million cards are completed.DOTr Undersecretary for Administration and Finance Kim Robert De Leon said they expect the backlogs to be addressed 'quickly.''Our aim is to normalize the supply of the cards, so we will ensure that Banner delivers these cards efficiently,' said De Leon.
