LSC-Tomball opens new innovation center to spark creative thinking, entrepreneurship

Dr. Jackie Thomas, Jr., LSC-Tomball chief strategist, said the space is intended to provide opportunities to think ahead and prepare for the future of higher education.Bayou Land Conservancy to provide LSC-Tomball students opportunity to learn from nature “That's what we created: a space that blends research with something that students will have to do and innovation, something that is important to keep us current and to ensure that we are meeting the needs of the ever-changing population,” Thomas said.
Isabelle Chen, coordinator III for research and innovation at LSC-Tomball, said that when Thomas proposed the idea years ago, she decided to assemble a committee to start developing the center. The new center launched in October and has been well received by the students, Thomas said. The facility’s focus is helping students continue their college career and prepare for the workforce.The newest technology that Chen has recently introduced to students at the center is a translator – a new piece of tech that allows students to translate from language to language by speaking into the device.LSC-Tomball Research and Innovation Center is open Monday through Thursday from 9 p.m. to 4 p.m.
