A low pressure area (LPA) off Eastern Samar, combined with the southwest monsoon or 'habagat', is bringing rain over Visayas and Mindanao, the state-run weather agency said on Friday.

The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical Astronomical Services Administration said, however, that the LPA estimated some 310 kilometers east of Borongan City may dissipate within the next 24 hours.

Weather specialist Benison Estareja said the LPA is enhancing habagat, causing rains over Visayas, Mindanao and in parts of Luzon such as Catanduanes, Sorsogon, Albay, Masbate and the northern portion of Palawan.Meanwhile, Typhoon 'Lan' was located some 2, 235kms east-northeast of extreme Northern Luzon and would unlikely enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility .
