The low pressure area last spotted east of southern Luzon developed into a tropical depression on Friday morning and is called Egay, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said.
The weather disturbance entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility east of Mindanao on Monday afternoon. Areas in Mimaropa and Western Visayas may expect cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms due to the habagat, PAGASA said. From Friday to Sunday, the tropical cylone is expected to move westward and will be closest to Samar and the Bicol region, Estareja said.
