SIBU: A shop assistant fell in love with her online friend who claimed he was a doctor, but her brief affair resulted in her losing RM10,800 instead.

Sibu OCPD Asst Comm Stanley Jonathan Ringgit said the woman got acquainted with the suspect who identified himself as “Ahmad Lee Stan” – not to be confused with comic icon the late Stan Lee – from London, in early November last year on Instagram.

“Subsequently she received text messages from somebody claiming to be ‘KLIA immigration’ saying there was a parcel for her.
