Tuaran: The United Sabah Lotud Association (Usla) said it fully supports the proposal by Kadamaian Assemblyman Datuk Ewon Benedick for the term “lain-lain” (others) in government forms to be replaced with “Momogun”.

Tuaran: The United Sabah Lotud Association said it fully supports the proposal by Kadamaian Assemblyman Datuk Ewon Benedick for the term “lain-lain” in government forms to be replaced with “Momogun”.

“There are many rationales for this,” said Usla President Datuk Raymond Tombung in a statement. “The term ‘lain-lain’ is quite condescending, implying the original peoples of Sabah lack importance as the co-creators and co-builders of the Malaysian Federation.” Daily Express Malaysia Raymond, who is also StarSabah’s Advisor, felt the move is long overdue as opposition to “lain’lain” by political and NGO leaders in Sabah had been heard many times but without any concrete solution for lack a good replacing name.

“It’s rather surprising that the term wasn’t proposed a lot earlier since it was used in the name of the United National Pasok Momogun Party 62 years ago,” he said.
