Lorry driver who ploughed into police corporal remanded until Monday (May 11)

PETALING JAYA: The lorry driver who crashed into a police roadblock that led to the death of a corporal has been remanded for three days.

"The suspect was re-arrested on Friday under Section 304 of the Penal Code for culpable homicide and Section 269 of the same code for negligent act like to spread infection of any disease.The suspect was initially arrested on May 3 under Section 41 of the Road Transport Act 1987 for causing death by driving recklessly.On Sunday , a police corporal on duty died after a suspected drunk driver crashed into him at a roadblock at the Lekas Highway.

The victim has been identified as Corporal Safwan Muhammad Ismail, 31, who was attached to Kajang police headquarters.
