A ban on lorries on highways to and from Kuala Lumpur during peak hours will be implemented starting February 19. The government gazetted this rule in October 2024 to improve traffic flow in the Klang Valley by removing slow-moving heavy vehicles during peak hours. The ban will apply to the PLUS North South Highway and the connected NKVE, Elite Highway, and DUKE Highway, during both morning (6.30 to 9.30 am) and evening (4.30 to 7.30 pm) peak hours. Exemptions apply to heavy vehicles involved in cleaning, waste disposal, emergency services, law enforcement, and highway maintenance.

If you’ve heard of this before, the rule has been in place on the PLUS North South Highway and the connected NKVE, specifically on the Sungai Buloh – Bukit Lanjan stretch and from Shah Alam to Jalan Duta , for the morning peak period . The same rule will now apply for the evening rush hours, from 4.30 to 7.30 pm.
