Tony Anderson, an assistant boys basketball coach at Thomas Worthington since 2005, will lead Dublin Scioto, pending school board approval.

After serving as an assistant boys basketball coach at Thomas Worthington since 2005, Tony Anderson believes he’s ready for his first head-coaching position at the varsity level.

Pending school board approval, Anderson will be the next coach at Dublin Scioto. He would succeed Mike Moler, who stepped down after 10 seasons. “I’m really excited for the vision I have for the team and the program,” Anderson said. “I think we can get that turned around.”Anderson, 40, is a 2001 graduate of Thomas. He played basketball and football for the Cardinals before playing football at Ohio Wesleyan.

He returned to Thomas to serve as an assistant coach while completing his bachelor’s degree in sports management at Ohio Wesleyan, graduating in 2007., who retired in April 2014 after 31 seasons with the Cardinals. “Coach Miller taught me everything, using life lessons to teach the game and how important that stuff is, not only in basketball, but how these kids carry on their lives as young men and young adults,” Anderson said.Anderson served in various capacities at Thomas, including as head coach of the freshman and junior varsity teams and as a varsity assistant. He also helped organize youth programs and camps.“I’m excited to get on board and ready to start work,” he said.
