Longtime NBA Player And Coach Paul Silas Passes Away At Age 79 - RealGM Wiretap

Former NBA player and coach Paul Silas has passed away at the age of 79. His death was confirmed by members of his family on Sunday.

Silas had a 16-year NBA career. He played for the St. Louis and Atlanta Hawks, Phoenix Suns, Boston Celtics, Denver Nuggets and Seattle SuperSonics. Throughout his career, Silas was considered one of the better rebounders and defenders in the league. Silas won NBA titles with Boston in 1974 and 1976 and with Seattle in 1979. He also played in the 1972 and 1975 All-Star Games.

Following his playing career, Silas coached for 12 seasons. He led the San Diego Clippers, Charlotte and New Orleans Hornets, Cleveland Cavaliers and then did a second stint with the rebranded Charlotte Hornets.
