UPDATE: Cal Fire crews were able to build a containment line around the LonestarFire, which sparked Wednesday in Otay Mesa, in just a few hours.
Firefighters battled a 5-acre brush fire that sparked Wednesday near Lonestar Road and Harvest Road in Otay Mesa, according to Cal Fire. At 5:30 p.m., Cal Fire first estimated the fire's size at 5 acres and said it was spreading dangerously fast.
Crews attacked the blaze from the ground and air, and were able to build a containment line around the fire by 8 p.m., according to Cal Fire. No injuries, damages or threatened structures were reported. There are no residential structures near the fire.
