Loke: Mavcom can operate for at least another six months

Transport Minister Anthony Loke Siew Fook said it would take a few months for the government to repeal and amend some laws, discuss about the structure and how to transfer Mavcom’s role to CAAM. “Over the next few months, the staff will be going to office, we will pay them their salary as usual,” he said, adding that the welfare of Mavcom’s 59 staff would be well taken care of.
“Right now we have two regulators. If any airlines, air cargo companies or ground handling companies want to get a licence to operate, they need to get approval from CAAM and then they have to go to Mavcom for another approval.
