The price of lobster meat, an already expensive food, is quickly increasing as inflation, federal regulations and smaller catches by fishermen impact the sale of the delicacy.
Lobster prices are becoming more expensive. Lobstermen said the delicacy is costing more because of inflation and new regulations.
"The biggest thing is the new regulations, there is only so much they can do, and they keep tacking on and on which drives the price up, and the catch down, it is a supply and demand thing," said Bruce Larson, owner of Southern Maine Lobster Company. From the fisherman, then to a processor, and finally to the grocery store or restaurant, with every hand that touches a lobster, the price goes up.
